Our  CD Life is Good amde it to the final round of the IBC Best Self Produced CD contest for 2009. It was one of 6 selected from almost 52 entries that made it to Memphis.

Lee Henzel, Host of "Blues Therapy" radio show said of the CD:

"Heart felt Chicago Blues compliments this release from the D. Smith Blues Band. These more than capable musicians have compiled a nice balance of originals & covers, the formers able to stand shoulder to shoulder with the laters. Definitely therapeutic good feeling music; the desired results of which the Blues is ultimately about. Life is good indeed,...Keep up the great work guys."

The D. Smith Blues Band - News

Summer 2010
We are celebrating twenty years of playing the blues with two shows. One at Black-Eyed Sally's in Hartford on August 21 and a second at P. Sam's Cafe in Torrington on August 27. We will also be playing in the final round of the CT Blues Society Blues Challenge on September 11 at the Hannon Hatch VFW in West Hartford.

Winter 2010
Thanks to all who came out to see us at Black-Eyed Sally's a few weeks ago - we had a great time and hope to have a return date there.  We will be playing at a new venue this weekend.  We will be at P. Sam's Cafe in Torrington.   this is the first time in Torrington for us in a couple of years - hope to see all of our old friends and fans from the area.

Fall-Winter 2009-10
We have had a somewhat busy fall playing at Legends and adding a couple of new venues. We had a great time playing at the Burlington Men's Club in early November - a great crowd. Hopefully we will do another gig there in 2010. We also played our first date at the Cambridge Brew Pub in Granby, CT. We will be back at there on Saturday night March 6. We also had our friend John Smayda sit in on tenor sax this past fall on two Legends gigs. On the second gig, Eric Ducoff filled in for Don on guitar - it was quite a night.

In 2010, we will be playing at Black-eyed Sally's on Saturday night January 23 - showtime is 9 PM. It's not often that we play BES on our own and we are really looking forward to playing the entire night. We alos have a new gig in Torrington. On Friday February 19 we will be playing at P. Sam's Cafe.

If you are on Facebook, D. Smith Blues now has a page - check us out!

The D. Smith Blues Band

The D. Smith Blues Band ... kicked some serious blues ass. The significant vocals of Bob Orsi helped make this six-member band exceptionally energetic and exciting ...

One of my favorite bands of the day blew the lid off the whole event — it was the D. Smith Blues Band, who were first to take the stage.
